POM (Polyoxymethylene)
POM is a high‑crystallinity engineering plastic, commonly nicknamed “steel‑like plastic”. Core features: excellent mechanical performance with high rigidity and high strength. It ranks among the best of engineering plastics in wear resistance and fatigue resistance. It delivers good self‑lubricity and low friction coefficient (dry friction against steel <0.2), permitting long‑term operation under oil‑free conditions. It features superior dimensional stability with extremely low water absorption (<0.25%), so it rarely deforms in humid environments. It also has strong resilience with metal‑like spring characteristics. Its main drawbacks are poor thermal stability with risk of decomposition at high temperature, difficulty in bonding and printing, and average weather resistance.
